The IGA Program established a
relationship with US Space Camp in Huntsville, AL to send essay contest winners to the prestigious science and technology
camp. After 2 years of sending a few Trainees from across the country, IGA invited
local stores to sponsor their own scholarships, assuring a winner from their area.
In 2002, Ocean Shores IGA had it's first winner and Space Camp Scholarship Winner!
Kina Shriner's parents entrusted us with their precious daughter to go all the way across
the country. Jody Cadle, Ocean Shores IGA employee, was chosen to attend as a
chaperone. Their experience at Space Camp convinced us all that this was something
that was truly special and worth working very hard to continue.
Even though the IGA Corporate Program ended in 2006, we have continued to host this
incredible scholarship -- even offering two scholarships! The knowledge and
excitement that these scholarship winners bring home from Space Camp is immeasurable, and
something that definitely makes us HOMETOWN
PROUD!
