Hometown Kids
Ocean Shores IGA believes in our Hometown Kids and is committed to
their success. Everyday! It is an ongoing commitment to focus on activities and events
that reach our...shorter... shoppers.
Through our Hometown
Kids Club, we are able to meet and treat all of our little friends that enter the
store, making their shopping trip just a little more fun. Just stop by our Service Center
to fill out our easy entry form and get your Kids Club Membership Card. Then, each time
that you are in Ocean Shores IGA, stop by the Service Cener for the weekly Kids Club
treat!
With "Together, we CAN!", we raise funds year
round to support Hometown Kids Groups or Scholarships. Just drop your change in one of the
6 cans located in our checkstands to support the group of your choice.
Our yearly Kidsfest is fun for the whole family! With the Pirate Theme, we looked for
treasure, threw our friends and family in the brig, made pirates walk the plank... a fun
filled day to celebrate our Hometown Kids. Stay tuned for information on this great party
in August!
"Make a Difference Day" is a community service event
that helps keep Hometown Kids safe and healthy. On the day designated by the Points of
Light Foundation, we host a Family Emergency Preparedness Fair. We offer Polaroid Kidcare
ID kits, among many other fun and informative things. Plan to be there, and plan to Make a
Difference yourself!
We support such programs as Receipts
for Education, Boxtops for
Education, and Labels for Education, who all help our schools to earn supplies
and equipment to make education a little more fun, a little more effective for our
Hometown Kids.
Through our Emergency Preparation tips,
we help our Hometown Kids to prepare for emergencies. We also contribute to the
evacuation kits in local schools. We know that they won't be scared if they are
prepared! We also offer Kidcare ID kits so that if one of our Hometown Kids is ever
lost or missing, their parents will have the proper ID to help law enforcement and search
and rescue to find them.
We have sent Hometown Kids to Space
Camp as recipients of the "Explore the Store" Space Camp
Scholarship. Helping kids reach for the stars is a major focus of the IGA program.
The holidays are often difficult for local families, and we work closely with the Anchor
Ave Thrift Store/Food Bank to provide gifts for Hometown Kids in need. Our Angel Tree
allows our customers to donate gifts, and they receive a handmade ornament for their
generosity. We have provided gifts for an average of 125 children per year.
